Admission & Discharge

Registration

Pre-registration can speed your visit by saving your time waiting at the queue. You can do this by:

Walk-in Registration
The Admission counter is located at Level 1, same as Consultant Suites. Appointments for admission are made during your visit to the consultant's clinic. Planned admission can be made through Admission counter at level 1 from 8.30 am till 5.00 pm. Emergency admissions are made through the A&E Service at Level G. Admissions made after office hours (after 5.30 pm), during weekend and on public holidays will be handled at the A&E Services. During registration for admission, you will be requested to present your identity card / passport or any other legal documents for registration purpose. For children under 12 years old, parents or guardian's identity is required for registration. Upon completion of registration, you will be requested to check and verify your particulars on the printed Admission Registration form. For return patient, you are advised to update your particulars and contact information during registration.

Patient Rights and Responsibilities

We strive to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients with respect and dignity. Upon admission you will be given a brochure that explains on Patient & Family Rights and Responsibilities in more detail. However, if you would like more information, please contact our Customer Service at extension 7003 / 8815.

Pre-Surgery Admission

You are required to sign a consent form before any surgery. For children under 18 years old, parents or guardians are required to sign the consent form for their children. Your consultant and the nurses will advise you on details regarding your preparation for surgery.

During Your Stay

Our nursing staffs will orientate you to the ward and all other facilities available in your room. You will be given an identification wristband upon your admission. Please do not remove the band during your stay in the hospital. It helps to provide positive identification of you to all who serve you and is a safeguard for our protection.

Belongings/Valuables
You are advised to keep only a few personal items such as toiletries, a bathrobe, slippers and sleepwear in your room. The hospital does not assume responsibility for valuables including medications. You are advised to send the valuable home as soon as possible. If that is not immediately possible, valuables may be kept temporarily in the hospital safe until someone can take them home for you.

Nurse Call System
Each bedside is provided with a call button that allows you to call for attention at any time. These buttons are also located in the toilets and bathrooms. Should you need any assistance please push the call button.

Meal Services
If you are under therapeutic diet, our Dietary service will ensure your nutritional requirements are met in accordance with your physician's orders. If you need advice on meal selection or have a question concerning your diet, you may request for Dietetic service. Our Dietitian will pay you a visit.

Standard meals are served as follows:

Breakfast 8.00am - 9.00am
Lunch 12.00 noon - 1.00pm
Tea Time 3.00pm - 3.30pm
Dinner 5.30pm - 6.30pm

Staff identification
Staff members will introduce themselves to you. They all wear complete uniforms with a nametag with their designation spelled.

Infection Control
Infection control is an essential part of quality health care. KPJ TSH has appropriate infection control practices in place to minimize infections. Patients and visitors are advised to practice hand hygiene at all times. Hands should be cleaned before and after visiting patients. Alcohol hand rub is conveniently located throughout the hospital for the use of staff, patients and visitors.

Telephones
This facility is only available in single rooms. To call for internal services, please refer to the hospital telephone directory for extension numbers or press "0" for operator's assistance. To make external calls, please press "0" for operator's assistance. Charges for your external calls will be reflected in your hospital bill. Hand (Mobile) phones are not permitted within the hospital premises as they may interfere with the high frequency electronic equipment used.

Television
Each patient bed is equipped with a television. If you encounter problem with the television, please contact our Maintenance Service at extension7028.

Newspaper
A choice of one complimentary newspaper is provided only to all single room occupants.

Smoking Policy
Our hospital observes a strict "NO SMOKING" code of practice within our premises following the Ministry of Health regulations.

Discharge from Hospital

You will be discharged upon your consultant's advice. Your final bill will be processed as soon as we receive the discharge order from your consultant.

For personal case (cash payer), your bill will be ready approximately one hour from the discharge time ordered by your doctor. If you are under hospitalization insurance, the entire verification and bill processes may take approximately two to three hours depending on the confirmation from the insurers. You will be informed when your bill is ready. You may be asked to pay subsistence fee, if applicable at the time of your discharge. If there are items found to be broken or missing upon your discharge, they will be charged to your bill accordingly.

Check out time is 12.00pm. Discharges from 3.00 pm – 5.00pm, an additional half day room charge will be incurred. Discharges after 5.00pm will be charged as a full day's rate.

Take home medication & follow up appointment
Medication will be given to you in the ward before you leave. Your follow up appointment (if applicable) with the consultant will also be made prior to your discharge.

Late Charges
Generally, the bill prescribed at discharge will be the final bill. Occasionally however, late charges for items used on the day of discharge may not be included. If this is the case, the hospital will post a final bill indicating the balance on the account.

Refund of Excess Deposit
Amounts received in excess of the total bill will be refunded depending on the initial payment mode. Refunds made via credit cards will be settled within 7 working days. However, cash refunds amounting to more than RM 500 will be done via cheque, within 14 working days.

Update of Hospital Bill and Insurance Claims
If you have a long stay in the hospital, we will update you or your family on your hospital bill's status periodically. If you are under GL or insurance scheme, our staff will file claims for you with your healthcare insurers or other programs. If you have queries on insurance claims, please contact our Business Office Service at extension 8825 (office hours only) or Billing Unitat extension 8904.

Payment Counter
Kindly make your payment or acknowledge your bill (for cases under insurance and guarantee letter) at the payment counter at the respective floors or at the first floor. Upon settling the bill, a discharge slip will be given to you. Please hand over the discharge slip to the nurse at the Nurses Counter and collect your medications, x-ray films, appointment card, M.C. and etc.

Physiotherapy and Rehabilitative Care
Physiotherapy and Rehabilitative Care KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital provides physiotherapy care for in patients and outpatient by trained physiotherapists. The type of physiotherapy is decided by the referring doctor and our experienced physiotherapists will assist patients to overcome their physical problems and help improve their well-being and fitness. Rehabilitation is also provided for patients as per consultant's advice.

Deposit Amount

Payment Counter & Operating Hours

Kindly make your payment or acknowledge your bill (for cases under insurance and guarantee letter) at the payment counter at Level 1 and Level G (Accident & Emergency). Upon settling the bill, a discharge slip will be given to you.

Please hand over the discharge slip to nurse at the Nurse Counter and collect your Medications, X-Ray CD, Appointment Card, Medical Certificates and etc.

Upon admission, the Admission staff will enquire your mode of payment. You are advised to present your insurance cards (including Medicare card), or letter of guarantee (GL) if applicable during your admission. Our Admission staff will assist you to determine if your hospital costs will be covered or if additional financial arrangements should be made.
