Definition

This subspecialty of internal medicine deals mainly with clinical problems involving joints and soft tissues. Rheumatological disorders can lead to severe health impairment resulting in malfunction and reduced working capacities, sometimes the implications of rheumatology can lead to severe consequences of complete loss of functionality in joints and tissues and irreversible impairment. Diagnosis of rheumatological disorders can be made from history and physical examination but sometimes it needs sophisticated investigations by a rheumatologist or other specialized physicians.
